Halloween Mufti Day

The Reaper and the Reptile

Say Hell-o, girls.

Is that a broom, or a really hairy belly button?

Ah, some sweet relief from the dastardly!

This Count was wishing there was a sunblock with SPF 10,000

A chilling twist on traditional Chinese costume.

The most terrifying Halloween costume of them all: a bucket that consumes a head whole!

Even the undead just want a good wifi signal
Science
For science we have been looking at electrical circuits. We’ve made some interesting discoveries in regards to how parallel or series circuits affect a light bulb’s brightness.

Congratulations to Amy and Atia, who won our Wentworth Year 6 speech competition. Both girls went on to the Hibiscus Coast Lions Speech Finals. Atia gained third place overall with her speech about the importance of chores – and some handy hints for getting out of them! Congratulations, Atia!
Well done to all the students who entered the school competition – it is a brave thing to do and I learned things from each of you.

Four teams of Year 6 engineering whizzkids took part in the Vector EPro8 STEM Competition, competing against other local schools to solve intricate problems using maths, science, electronics and technology.
It was a nailbiting event with Wentworth teams consistently in the running for the top spots and a ticket to the semi-finals. After two and a half hours, our jointly-third placed ‘Science Infection’ team were involved in a tense “build-off” to decide the final spot – and won by a massive 6mm!!!
Congratulations to all our teams – you were amazing!

Tuatara class have had a busy start to Term 4, starting with assessments in the first few weeks. I am incredibly proud of all of our class members for having positive attitudes towards their assessments and giving it their all.
This term we welcome Ann into our classroom. As always, the children have been very welcoming, allowing Ann to settle into life at Wentworth with ease. If you see Ann around, be sure to give her a nice Wentworth welcome!
Last week the class were very lucky to have Ms Gee use her expertise to teach the class all about flax weaving. Everyone was very engaged and very much enjoyed the lesson. They particularly enjoyed the practical element of making their garlands. Thank you to Ms Gee for a lovely lesson. Please see some lovely photographs below:

We look forward to some exciting times ahead, with Volvo Learn to Sail coming up shortly, along with the Kids4Kids concert.

On the 31st of October we had a mufti day, sausage sizzle and bake sale.
The money raised will be donated to an ex Wentworth Primary student who is sadly very unwell at the moment.
Our Year 0 and Year 1 class embraced the Halloween theme and a wonderful day was had by all.
Thank you to everyone for your generosity and support. An AMAZING $950.00 was raised and will be given to our very special friend Amelie.
We absolutely appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness. I feel very proud and fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful school community. Thank you all!

Wow, what a performance!
All the hard work paid off when we performed our sold out, once-in-a-lifetime show in front of the Gulf Harbour Preschool, the Wentworth Primary and College students, and our parents and whanau.
We could not stop talking about it the day after and all feel so proud of learning the songs, lines and actions that we needed to. Year 2, you really were STARS!!

What an out-of-this-world extravaganza of space exploration!!! Our production, “The Final Frontier” was an epic tale of the struggle between the forces of good and evil, throwing in a healthy dose of science fiction fun for good measure!

Come on guys………Get Firewise!
We were so lucky to have the fire fighters visit us early in September. We talked about how to keep safe around fire and then we were allowed to look in the fire truck and use the HOSE!
Space food!
One of our lovely Hihi class friends went to NASA and returned with some astronaut food. We tried ice-cream sandwiches and strawberries. We were fascinated by how crumbly the food was and we were amazed that we were eating dried ice-cream!

School Production: The Final Frontier
After all those hours of practice, it was time to enjoy the performance:

Everyone: “What do you mean I can’t use my script anymore!!?”

Calling them little pop stars would be too easy

A whole world has opened up with those three extra eyes

Clearly polishing off the word “On” before moving on to “Jupiter”

The planets, not ashamed to be filled with gas.

After hours of makeup and prosthetics to become “Human Child 2”

the Martian Mafia?
Global Food Day
In Week 7, the Years 4 – 6 shared food from different cultures, and dressed in costumes representing different countries that they identified with.
